Josef has a tooth!

Today is the first day that an actual tooth can be felt cutting through Josef's roller coaster like gums! It has seemed like forever since the doctor uttered the words, "I believe he's teething already" when he was only six weeks old. But the day has finally arrived.

Ironically, or maybe I should say in honor of Josef's first tooth, Julia decided to once again use hers on something other than food. I believe it started innocently, but one will never know. We had friends over for an impromptu pizza party this evening. Julia appeared to be playing nicely and asked for me to help her don her beloved dinosaur costume. Knowing that her visiting friend likes to play dress-up I thought that things were going well. Then I heard a roar coming from the bedroom. A loud roar. I mean a roar terrifying loud coming from a three year old and one way too long to be that of a friendly loving dinosaur. I quickly excused myself from the table in time to see Julia's bedroom door closing and a dinosaur making an escape to the hallway. Opening the door I heard a terrified cry coming from our visiting friend. There she stood backed into the corner. Tears streaming down her face. I asked her what was wrong and she just cried. Her mom came in and she said the words that hit me straight in the heart, "She bit me!". When asked where, it was quite obvious. The green dinosaur had left a chocolate mouth print on the sleeve where she had sunk her ferocious teeth. I made Julia apologize and stand in the corner. She tried to comfort her friend saying, "Don't worry, it's just me!" as she peeled off the dinosaur costume. But those words did not free her from her punishment. In the corner she stood. We talked about it more that evening after our friends departed. She said she understood that biting was not nice and we don't use our teeth for anything but food. As for me, I had a long talk with God. I have begged him to show mercy and for Josef to only use his teeth for good and not evil.
